While Samsung’s AI-based voice assistant Bixby may not be a popular option for many, the virtual assistant certainly comes with a variety of great features for Samsung users. The Korean giant eventually introduced several features to Bixby to be on par with Google Assistant, Alexa and Siri. Now Samsung has released its voice assistant Bixby as an app for the Windows platform.
Samsung Bixby comes in Windows 11
With Bixby for Windows 11, users can launch apps by voice wake-up, check weather data, search for files and images, and manage devices that are voice-connected to Samsung’s SmartThings ecosystem. However, it is worth mentioning Bixby is currently optimized to work on Samsung Galaxy Book devices.
Samsung says so in the app description “There may be restrictions on use or certain features when used by certain products or products from other manufacturers.” Furthermore, the company has added a list of Galaxy Book products that currently support Bixby for Windows. You can see the list below:
- Galaxy Book Pro 360
- Galaxy Book Pro
- The Book of Galaxies
- The Book of Odyssey Galaxy
- Galaxy Book Go
- Galaxy Book Go 5G
In addition, Samsung also mentions that users must have Windows 10 21H1 or later to run Bixby on their devices. I installed Bixby from a Microsoft store and tried to use Voice Assistant on my Windows 10 computer. Although the app was still installed on the device, Bixby did not start on my computer as expected.
Therefore, the application appears to be currently incompatible with non-Samsung devices. However, if you own a device from the list above, you can try the Bixby app from the Microsoft Store. If you do, tell us your experience in the comments below.
