After introducing its first tablet device almost seven years ago, Nokia today re-entered the tablet segment with the launch of the Nokia T20 tablet on the market. It is a premium-looking device featuring a variety of advanced features to compete with the latest and greatest on the market. The device is also the company’s first tablet based on Android. So before we move on to price and availability, let’s take a quick look at its design and key specifications.
Nokia T20 tablet introduced
Design and display
Starting with the design, the Nokia T20 tablet has a familiar design reminiscent of Nokia’s latest smartphones. It has soft, rounded corners and edges and a clean back panel with just one camera module and the Nokia logo in the middle. The device weighs 465 g and is 7.8 mm thick.
On the front, the Nokia T20 has a 10.4-inch IPS LCD screen with a maximum resolution of 2000 x 1200p (2K). It is also covered with tempered glass, according to Nokia. However, the company did not mention any brand for it. Furthermore, the screen will have a brightness enhancement feature that can allow it to achieve a maximum brightness of 400 nits.
Cameras and internal devices
Now it is worth mentioning that the screen has a little frame around it. But on second thought, you’ll need a little space to hold the device without affecting the touch screen. Moreover, the top frame in landscape orientation features a 5 MP front selfie and a webcam. Speaking of cameras, the Nokia T20 has one 8 MP camera and an LED flash located inside the rear camera module.
Under the hood of the device is the Unisoc T610 processor, an octa-core processor consisting of two Cortex-A75 cores and six Cortex-A55 cores. The chipset is paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. There’s also a dedicated SD card slot to expand the internal memory to 512GB.
As for the battery, the Nokia T20 comes with a massive 8,200 mAh battery that supports fast charging of 18 W. However, it is worth mentioning that users will not be able to charge the device at maximum capacity with the 10 W charging adapter included in the box. According to Nokia, the device can deliver up to 10 hours of movie playback and 15 hours of web browsing on a single charge.
In addition to these, there is also a USB-C port for charging and data transfer and a 3.5 mm audio port. It also comes with a stereo speaker setup along with Nokia’s PPE Audio technology. Although the device lacks a fingerprint scanner, it offers a face unlock for authentication.
The device will run Android 11 and will come in a single color called Deep Ocean. Nokia says the T20 tablet will get 2 years of major Android updates and 3 years of monthly security updates. So it will be upgradeable to Android 12 which has recently started coming out for global users. In addition, the device will ship with Google Kids Space and Google Entertainment Space.
Price and availability
As for the price of the device, Nokia T20 will start from 179.99 GBP (~ 18 311 Rs) for the variant with Wi-Fi only, and will go up to 199.99 GBP (~ 20 346 Rs) for the model Wi-Fi + Cellular. It is currently available for pre-orders, and delivery will begin Oct. 11. Moreover, customers who pre-register will also receive a 50% discount on the Robust holster and windings from the Nokia T20 switch.
Unfortunately, there is no word on whether Nokia will bring the device to India or not. However, as the company expands rapidly in India, we can expect the company to step into the tablet segment in the country.
