Realme launches the GT Master Edition series with Naoto Fukusawa designs

Earlier this month, we learned that Realme was working on a uniquely designed Master Edition of the Realme GT. Now the company has officially unveiled the phone in China along with another model called Realme GT Master Explorer Edition.

Both phones were designed in collaboration with Japanese industrial designer Naoto Fukusawa and feature a suitcase behind 3D vegan leather. Although the Realme GT Master Edition and the Master Explorer Edition are off-shoots of the Realme GT 5G released in March, they are not exactly identical. They differ in terms of chipset, main camera and screen size.

Let’s start with the Realme GT Master Explorer Edition. It has a slightly larger 6.55-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz screen refresh rate and packs the Snapdragon 870 inside. This is a step down from the regular Realme GT that accompanies the top Snapdragon 888. It also features different capitals and ultra-wide cameras, with the new phone featuring an original Sony IMX766 50MP sensor instead of a 64MP and 16MP ultra-wide camera shot instead of an 8MP sensor. However, the rest of the package is more or less similar. You still have a 4,500mAh battery with fast 65W charging, up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage and a scanner below the screen.

Meanwhile, the Realme GT Master Explorer Edition comes with a 6.43-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, which is identical to the regular Realme GT, but exchanges the Snapdragon 888 SoC for a Snapdragon 778 chip. At the back, the Master Explorer Edition features a primary 64MP capture program, an ultra-wide 8MP camera and a 2MP macro lens. This, again, is the same as the regular model. But on the front, the selfie camera has been upgraded to a 32MP camera from 8MP. The phone also has a slightly smaller 4,300mAh battery that charges via a fast 65W charger.

The Realme GT Master series will be released in China from July 30. The main version starts at 2,399 CNY (~ $ 370) for the 8 GB / 128 GB variant, while the 12 GB / 256 GB model is available at 2,599 CNY (~ $ 400). The Master Explorer Edition, on the other hand, starts at CNY 2,799 (~ $ 432) for the base model and reaches CNY 3,099 (~ $ 478) for the top-of-the-line 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage variant. Realme says both phones will be released worldwide later.
